Call for Papers

MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT:

The 2011 International Conference in Management Sciences and Decision Making will be held at Tamkang University, Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C., on May 21, 2011. Topics related to managerial decision making from all management fields are invited for submission. Case studies, international business research, and management/ business research are especially welcomed. This conference cooperates with the International Journal of Information and Management Sciences (EI Compendex, TSSCI) by selecting good quality articles for possible publication after complete review process.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION:

The official language, for both submissions and presentations, is English. Authors should send an abstract with approximately 500 words as an e-mail attachment to icmsdm2011 no later than January 5, 2011. The abstract must be submitted as Word documents and contain a title of the submission, name and affiliation of the author(s), contact information (Education, Academic Experience, Honors and Awards, Research and Publication, full address, telephone, facsimile & e-mail) and the appropriate field (i.e., Operations Research, Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management, Marketing, …etc). If more than two authors are listed, please identify the one who will make the presentation at the conference. Notification of acceptance will be sent on January 20, 2011. Upon notification of acceptance, the full paper (in English, double-spaced, not to exceed 20 A4 pages in Microsoft word format) is due on March 15, 2011.

A registration fee of US$120.00 (or NT$3,500) is required to reach our office before the full paper submission deadline in order to be officially registered into the conference. Academic Informing Science and Engineering

As you know, the environment complexity of Research and Education is increasing with an accelerated rate. Consequently, an adequate re-conception of academic activities (research, education, and/or consulting) in the context of adaptive complex systems might very probably improve the effectiveness of these activities. Complexity Science, Informing Science/Engineering, Cybernetics and Cyber-technologies could effectively support the re-conception and consequent re-design of academic informing activities, methodologies, and processes

Complexity Science and Informing Sciences/Engineering are emerging academic endeavors that are supporting this kind of re-conception and re-design in different academic fields (see for example T. Grandon Gill’s “Informing Business: Research and Education on a Rugged Landscape"). On the other hand, Informatics and Cybernetics have a great potential in providing the conceptual and technological tools for the implementation of the newly conceived solutions and designs.

Based on this emerging new reality, IMCIC 2011 Organizing Committee decided to start the organization, in its context, of a series of international symposia on Academic Informing Science and Engineering with the purpose of bringing together academics and professionals to share their research and academic-practice-based reflections with other scholars and researchers concerned with the effectiveness of any or all kinds of academic activities.

The first international symposium on Academic Informing Science and Engineering: isAISE 2011 (http://www.2011iiisconferences.org/aise), will be held in the context of IMCIC 2011 (www.2011iiisconferences.org/imcic), in Orlando, Florida, USA on March 27-30, 2011.

We invite you to participate and/or submit a paper/abstract to isAISE 2011. The deadlines for the first of this series of symposia are the following (check isAISE 2011 web site for possible extensions). You can also participate organizing an invited session (registration fee will be waived for effective invited session organizers) and/or supporting the reviewing process of submitted papers/abstracts. Check the conference web site for more details regarding these issues.

Emerging Applications of M&S in Industry and Academia (EAIA’11) Symposium
The Symposium for Emerging Applications of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) in
Industry and Academia (EAIA) has evolved into a hub for new ideas and
successful applications thereof. The focus is on innovative applications of
M&S in theory and practice. As such, we are looking for papers that show
successful and promising trends. For 2011, we offer seven topic categories
plus the “Other Emerging Application" category to be able to give a home to
good papers that do not fit into the other categories. For more information
on the tracks click on the hyperlinked names of the tracks.

* M&S and Education <http://scs.org/node/248> will continue to look how M&S
can be used to enrich education, ranging from public education in middle and
high schools over colleges and universities to education of the work force.
* M&S and Engineering <http://scs.org/node/249> has its focus on
engineering applications of M&S as well as applying engineering methods to
M&S. This includes new engineering management efforts, such as Scrum for
M&S, or applying M&S as a Green Technology.
* Business and Industry Simulation Applications <http://scs.org/node/253>
shows “where the rubber meets the road." Where is M&S really making a
difference in Industry? How can we optimize processes and businesses using
new methods that combine M&S and heuristics?
* M&S and Risk Management <http://scs.org/node/251> is looking for
contributions regarding theory and application of supporting Risk Management
with the full spectrum of M&S.
* M&S and Philosophy <http://scs.org/node/250> is a new topic for EAIA, but
as M&S grows as its own discipline, it is time to address some philosophical
questions, including the question of how M&S is influenced and influences
Philosophy and our understanding of what we understand.
* M&S and Law Enforcement <http://scs.org/node/252> is starting to become a
new application domain. The objective is to give a home to papers that
evaluate the potential and applicability of the whole M&S spectrum to
support law enforcement in training, analysis, and operations.
* M&S Technology Transition <http://scs.org/node/247> is a contemporary
interest to avoid the frequent loss of great ideas between R&D and
distribution organizations. We are looking for lessons learned and methods
derived to enable knowledge transfer.
* Other Emerging Applications is interested other innovative applications of
M&S in theory and practice.

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS:

Prospective authors are invited to submit their papers by uploading
them to the evaluation web site at: http://world-comp.org
Submissions must be uploaded by March 10, 2011 and they must be
in either MS doc (but not docx) or pdf formats (about 5 to 7
pages – single space, font size of 10 to 12). All reasonable
typesetting formats are acceptable (later, the authors of accepted
papers will be asked to follow a particular typesetting format to
prepare their final papers for publication.) Papers must not have
been previously published or currently submitted for publication
elsewhere.
The first page of the paper should include: title of the paper,
name, affiliation, postal address, and email address for each
author. The first page should also identify the name of the Contact
Author and a maximum of 5 topical keywords that would best
represent the content of the paper. Finally, the name of the
conference that the paper is being submitted for consideration
must be stated on the first page.

The length of the final/Camera-Ready papers (if accepted) will be
limited to 7 (two-column IEEE style) pages.

Each paper will be peer-reviewed by two experts in the field for
originality, significance, clarity, impact, and soundness. In cases
of contradictory recommendations, a member of the conference
program committee will be charged to make the final decision
(accept/reject) – often, this would involve seeking help from
additional referees by using a double-blinded review process. In
addition, all papers whose authors included a member of the
conference program committee will be evaluated using the
double-blinded review process. (Essay/philosophical papers will
not be refereed but may be considered for discussion/panels).

All proceedings of WORLDCOMP will be published and indexed in:
Inspec / IET / The Institute for Engineering & Technology,
DBLP / CS Bibliography, and others.

An important mission of WORLDCOMP is “Providing a unique
platform for a diverse community of constituents composed of
scholars, researchers, developers, educators, and practitioners.
The Congress makes concerted effort to reach out to participants

One main goal of the congress is to assemble a spectrum of
affiliated research conferences, workshops, and symposiums into
a coordinated research meeting held in a common place at a
common time. This model facilitates communication among
researchers in different fields of computer science, computer
engineering, and applied computing. The Congress also encourages
multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary research initiatives;
ie, facilitating increased opportunities for cross-fertilization
across sub-disciplines.

第五屆亞洲會展產業論壇

「亞洲會展產業論壇」自2006年辦理以來,已成功為2000多位國際會展菁英建立交流平台,成為亞洲會展界最受囑目之年度盛事。該論壇每年邀請國內外產官學專家齊聚一堂,探討全球最新的會展產業趨勢及議題,以促進國內外商機交流,並共開創亞洲會展產業榮景。

Gretl-users gretl conference 2011 announcement

The gretl Development Team, Nicolaus Copernicus University, Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management, Department of Econometrics and Statistics and Toruń School of Banking are happy to announce a call for papers for the Gretl Conference to be held in Toruń (Poland) on June 16-17, 2011.

We encourage everybody willing to support and spread the use
of open-source econometric and statistic software to take part in this
conference, especially if you are interested in:

– Teaching econometrics and statistics using free software
– Implementation of some econometric techniques in gretl
– Methodological papers with a strong computational emphasis
– Applications carried out in gretl
– Developing gretl

Ideally, submitted papers should be done with gretl but papers con-
taining statistical and econometric applications done in any other pack-
age, could be acceptable provided that the paper or the discussion con-
tains a section on what gretl lacks to do the same. Submissions for oral
and poster presentations are accepted.

XBRL(eXtensible Business Reporting Language,可延伸商業報導語言)以XML(eXtensible Markup Language,可延伸標記語言)技術為基礎,藉由國際標準之制訂,建構全球企業資訊供應鏈,以方便各階段參與者得以更有效率的方式取得、交換與分析比較企業的各項資訊,可解決日益繁雜之資訊揭露問題,提昇公開資訊之透明度並與國際接軌。

我國資本市場推動採用XBRL計畫時程

(一) 短期目標-建置示範平台:藉由XBRL示範平台之建置,讓各界對XBRL有初步之認識,該平台已於2008年12月29日上線,可於下列網址查詢(http://xbrldemo.twse.com.tw/)。
(二) 中期目標-自願申報:預計於申報2009年第4季財務報告時鼓勵自願申報,申報內容為四大報表。
(三) 長期目標-全面申報:預計於申報2010年上半年度財務報告時全面要求上市櫃(興櫃)公司採用,申報內容包含四大報表及財務報表附註。

採用XBRL可能產生之效益

一、 一般企業:應用XBRL技術可使書面財務報表的準備、網路財務資訊的發佈或上傳至相關主管單位,皆由預先設計好的應用程式一次執行完畢,不需分開執行多次的資料處理作業,大幅提昇企業編製財務報表的效率。同時XBRL文件不受平台限制,因此增加企業在選購資訊系統軟硬體的自由度。
二、 投資大眾:企業採用XBRL可使投資者更快速地獲得企業的相關資料,同時也可直接對所獲取的資料加以比較分析,避免重新輸入整理的風險與不效率。同時免費享用XBRL資訊,使投資者更容易接觸公司財務資訊,增加其決策的品質。
三、 投資分析師:使用XBRL資訊更容易搜尋且更細微,投資分析師可以從網路獲取的資料直接用來分析,省去處理大量資料時間。
四、 證券管理單位:財政部證券暨期貨管理委員會自1988年起便積極推動「公開資訊電子檔案網路申報」,規定各公開發行公司、證券商、期貨商、證券投資信託事業、證券投資顧問事業及證券金融事業等,每年除將書面資料抄送證券基金會外,應將與書面一致之資料作成電子檔上傳至證券基金會。因各公司檔案格式不同造成利用上的不便,目前證期會雖以Adobe Acrobat之PDF或DynaDoc之WDL檔推動「電子檔案單一化」,但若各公司皆統一採用XBRL格式上傳檔案,不但具有相同檔案格式,更可直接對其進行檢查、比較與分析,對證券管理單位而言,可以最小成本達到資訊公開透明化與公平化的證券市場。
五、 會計師產業:由於XBRL可以應用在公司各種不同資料的傳遞,在財務報表方面會計師應扮演輔導的角色為客戶提供相關訓練,提昇客戶的競爭力,這不僅開拓會計師的另一商機,也增加會計師在專業上的地位。未來各企業在網路上公佈其財務資料,各事務所將面臨對網路資料進行查核的需求,若各企業均採用XBRL統一揭露,事務所便可直接透過標準應用程式取得客戶所公開財務資料的內容,同時若與企業統一化的審計軌跡資料庫連結,則在確定該系統各方面控制良好且邏輯無誤後,便可直接透過網路進行連續性的查核工作,如此可減少大量人工作業,增加查核效率提高查核品質。
六、 財務資料整合系統業者:財務資料整合系統業者最怕遇到其系統資料無法與其他資料庫業者相互溝通, XBRL可為這個問題提出一個低成本且高品質的解決方案;財務資料整合系統業者可將其系統資料輸入輸出介面設計以XBRL基礎的統一格式與型態,如此可輕易解決整合性系統跨各種不同平台的問題。

教育部智慧生活整合性人才培育計畫

99年度「第一屆智慧生活種子師資培訓營」

一、 緣起

面對無所不在(ubiquitous)網路通訊時代的來臨、高齡化與少子化等社會結構劇烈的轉變、以及地球暖化、減碳、減廢等環保議題的興起,在此高度全球化的社經環境轉變中,我國希望透過發展「智慧生活(Smart Living)」的概念,運用與整合跨領域之科學技術與人文素養,以回應上述全球社會經濟與環境發展的複雜議題。

「智慧生活」揭櫫的乃是一新知識體系及其新興相關產業鏈的形成,其願景則是在提昇整體國人生活與生存環境品質、健康水平與社會文化福利。在這個願景的趨動下,教育部顧問室於98年7月,委託國立臺灣大學吳政忠教授主持,邀集國內產學研各界專家學者,著手進行「智慧生活整合性人才培育計畫」的先期規劃。計畫預定於100年全面推動,計畫推動辦公室已於今(99)年7月成立,並已著手布建未來計畫全面推動時所需的各項基礎。

發展新興領域當有新興思維,教育部「智慧生活整合性人才培育計畫」擬先由舉辦教師研習營,培育種子師資開始,盼能透過種子師資培訓營,將國內智慧生活教育資源與能量做初步整合,以整備我國智慧生活領域教學能量,並促進相關領域教師進行跨領域合作,催生智慧生活領域之各類專業課程。

二、 活動目的

本培訓營的主要目的在於凝聚國內教育界與社會相關領域專家對智慧生活人才培育之精神綱領與共識,並且媒合不同專業背景之大專院校教師交流合作,促其設計與開發智慧生活跨領域創新課程,冀望這些種子教師回到各自校院系所後能夠作為智慧生活整合性人才培育的基樁,在高等教育系統中引領與提攜青年學子,使未來智慧生活創意人才與產業能夠在台灣遍地開花。

「第一屆智慧生活種子師資培訓營」竭誠歡迎所有對培育智慧生活人才的老師熱情參與,然因資源所限,僅能提供有限名額。因此,本次活動,將請各校教務長推薦參與教師,以校為單位報名。

2. 由於培訓營第2天「生活工作坊」為小組活動,為期小組成員背景多元化,以激盪出更多精彩的想法與對話。請各校推薦報名參加培訓營的教師,至少包含兩個性質迥異的學院(如人文社會及工程科技領域)。

3. 教育部智慧生活整合性人才培育計畫將於100年開始全面推動,未來將推動補助全國大學校院結合服務學習、通識、專業、實作與產業實習課程的雙層三明治式課(學)程推廣計畫。本研習課程有助於各校對雙層三明治式課(學)程的瞭解,惠請推薦對智慧生活(永續智慧生活空間、智慧健康醫療照護、文化導向生活科技)富有教學熱誠的老師報名參與。

4. 本次活動名額有限,承辦單位將依本活動之宗旨,先行考量「曾開設跨領域課程」或「從事智慧生活領域相關研究」之教師,其次再依各校報名先後順序安排學員。
