ESA-announce 2013 North-American ESA Conference, Santa Cruz
The 2013 North-American ESA Conference will be held in the lovely
beachside resort town of Santa Cruz, California from Thursday evening
October 24th to Saturday October 26th, 2013. Al Roth (Stanford) and
Rachel Croson (UT Arlington) have agreed to be the plenary speakers.
The deadline for submitting contributed papers will be September 8.
Registration for faculty (student) members is $250 ($150). After
September 24, registration fees will increase to $300 ($200) for
faculty (student) members and we will lose the special ESA rate for
rooms at the conference hotel.
Please make your hotel reservation directly through Hotel Paradox
(855-425-7200) by September 24 and mention that you are part of the
ESA group in order to obtain the special rate of $132 for a single or
double occupancy room.
We will try to post a preliminary program by September 17 to leave
time to finalize travel arrangements. The nearest airports are San
Jose (SJC, about 35 minutes away), and San Francisco (SFO, about 75
minutes away except during rush hour).
The hotel is a few minutes walk from the center of town where dozens
of eateries can be found, and from the boardwalk and West Cliff and
East Cliff Drive. The UC Santa Cruz campus is about a 10 minute drive
from the hotel.
Traditionalists will note that this year’s event will not be held in
Tucson, AZ as has been the custom for many years. Holding the North
American meetings in Santa Cruz this year may be regarded as the
realization of a one-shot mixed strategy. Future venues are open to
discussion, and Tucson is the default choice.
