The AEA Annual Meeting registration discount deadline is December 3, 2013. The fee for registration will then increase from $60 to $120. AEA Continuing Education Program: January 5-7, 2014 at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown, immediately after the annual meeting. The topics are:

  • Cross-Section Econometrics (Alberto Abadie, Harvard University and Joshua Angrist, Massachusetts Institute of Technology)
  • Economic Growth (Oded Galor and David Weil, Brown University)
  • Education and the Economy (Susan Dynarski and Brian Jacob, University of Michigan)

The Fourth Annual AEA Conference on Teaching (at the undergraduate and graduate levels) and Research in Economic Education (all levels, including precollege) will be held May 28-30, 2014 at the Washington Marriott at Metro Center. The conference is hosted by the AEA Committee on Economic Education in cooperation with the Journal of Economic Education. Plenary talks will be given by Alan Blinder (Princeton), Kenneth G. Elzinga (UVA), Cecilia Rouse (Princeton) and other speakers TBA. Submissions will be accepted via the AEA online submission system. Submissions may be of individual papers, complete sessions of three or four papers, workshops, or panels. Complete session submissions are encouraged. The submission deadline is December 1, 2013. Nominations for American Economic Journals‘ Best Paper Prizes. Suggestions for nominations for the annual "Best Paper" prizes for the AEA’s four American Economic Journals are solicited now. The awards will be announced in April 2014, selected from articles published in the 2011 through 2013 volumes of each AEJ. To make suggestions go to Deadline is February 15, 2014.

Registry for Randomized Control Trials. The AEA has launched a new site to register randomized control trials (RCTs). The AEA encourages all investigators to register new and existing RCTs. Registration is entirely voluntary and is not currently linked to or required for submission and publication in the AEA journals. The site is available at

More of a Good Thing!…. In January 2014, the American Economic Review (AER) will expand its publication cycle from 7 to 12 issues offering readers even quicker access to the latest economics research. This includes the May edition of Papers and Proceedings which presents selected papers from the AEA’s annual meeting.
