ESA-announce Scholarships for PhD program at UTS
The Economics Discipline Group (EDG) at University Technology Sydney (UTS) invites applications to its new coursework-based PhD program. The PhD program will primarily focus on microeconomics, econometrics, and their application to important market and policy design choices. The first cohort of students will begin classes in late July 2014. Please encourage your students to apply.
Financial support for incoming students is awarded competitively. Scholarship awards with a base stipend of A$25,000, and potentially an A$10,000 supplement, are available. These awards also include a tuition waiver, and are free from Australian tax. Students receiving these awards should expect to be fully funded through 3 1/2 years of the program, so long as they make good progress. Students requiring further support to complete their PhD will be eligible for funding as a teaching or research assistant.
Economics at UTS: Economics is a strategic priority of the University. It has expanded rapidly in the last few years, and we look forward to further growth. In the 2012 Australian Research Council ranking of Australian economics departments, the EDG was one of four universities in Australia to receive the top score of “5” overall. It was the only university to receive a score of 5 in the field of applied economics. The EDG has a dynamic and internationally diverse group of faculty. Later this year the EDG will move to its new home in the Gehry-designed Dr. Chau Chak Wing Building.
Sydney is a vibrant multicultural city, with a wonderful climate. It is one of the great cities of the world!
Students interested in applying to the program should contact David Goldbaum (David.Goldbaum) at their earliest convenience.
