Public Goods through Private Eyes. Project concluding conference October 9th-10th 2014 – University of Warsaw (Poland), University of Warsaw Library, 56/66 Dobra St.

In 2009 the European Research Council awarded Natalia Letki 1.73 million Euro to carry out a full-scale public opinion survey of 14 post-communist societies. Over 20,000 respondents in Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia and Ukraine were surveyed on their attitudes and behaviour towards public goods and common pool resources. As the project will conclude in November 2014, it is now time to discuss its findings.

The PGPE project (Public Goods through Private Eyes: Exploring Citizens’ Attitudes to Public Goods and the State in Central Eastern Europe) is announcing its concluding conference that will take place on October 9th-10th, 2014 in Warsaw. The aim of the conference is to present the data collected in the course of the project, but also to bring together scholars interested in the individual, community and institutional determinants of public goods contributions.

Keynote lectures will be given by members of the PGPE Project Advisory Board:

Klarita Gërxhani / University of Amsterdam

Erich Kirchler and Stephan Muehlbacher / University of Vienna

Pamela Paxton / The University of Texas at Austin

Michael Wenzel / Flinders University
