Posted on 2017/10/21. Filed under: 綜合 |

Dear list members,

We are pleased to announce the second Cultural Transmission and Social Norms workshop (CTSN 2), co-organized by the University of East Anglia and the Max Planck Institute (Bonn) for Research into Collective Goods, and to be held at the University of East Anglia on 14-16 December 2017.

CTSN is an interdisciplinary workshop for researchers focusing on cultural transmission and social norms, at both macro level (cultural differences, historical change, cultural evolution) and micro level (experimental work, psychology of norms, social contexts). Participants come from a broad range of disciplines including economics, history, sociology and psychology. Our goal is to make researchers aware of each others’ work and to encourage cross-fertilization of ideas. We aim to keep the atmosphere informal, participants diverse, and the quality of presentations high. Selected speakers include Felix Warneken, Pete Richerson, Simon Gaechter, Erin Krupka, Abigail Barr, Roberto Weber, Alex Cappelen, Daniel Chen and Thomas Hills.

This year we are aiming for a mix of invited and submitted speakers. To submit, please email a paper or extended abstract to t.cushan. We also have some spaces available for non-speaking attendees. There is a registration fee of £200 for submitted speakers and attendees (£100 for PhD students). This includes the fee for the workshop dinner on Thursday 14th.

ESA-announce Post-doc positions at NYU Abu Dhabi

Posted on 2017/10/18. Filed under: 綜合 |

Dear friends and colleagues,

I would like to bring to your attention that New York University in Abu Dhabi is seeking to fill several postdoc positions starting in September 2018.

The terms of employment are very competitive and include housing subsidies and educational subsidies for children. For details about the position and NYU Abu Dhabi, please see the ad here.

Although the ad does not specify particular fields of research, we hope to hire two or three experimental economists. Experimental economists with solid econometric or theoretical skills are especially encouraged to apply.

NYU Abu Dhabi has a dedicated laboratory for experimental research and several faculty members who conduct experiments. We also have a large group of post-docs, weekly seminars with international visitors, and annual events attracting leading scholars conducting experiments across the social sciences.

If you have any questions about the position, you can write either to

Ernesto Reuben (ereuben) who is on the search committee for the postdocs, or me (nikos.nikiforakis).

Best wishes and good luck to all those on the market this year!
