Music Night 2013 in San Diego. The AEA is organizing several small performance groups for an evening of diverse music at the 2013 ASSA meetings in San Diego. We envision participants, who are primarily economists, from several broad genres. Examples include: Jazz; Latin (Samba/Bossanova/ Mambo/Bolero); Bluegrass/Country; Blues. The goal is a relaxed atmosphere and ample opportunity for conversation, implying the music will involve no loud amplification and no vocals.

To be considered, send by April 15: (1) Audio links to your music and, preferably, a video link as well (e.g., YouTube upload); (2) A list of venues and approximate dates (clubs, restaurants, etc.) where you have played, and contact information (e.g., web url) for the venue; (3) An approximate list of the songs you would play, adding up to roughly 30 minutes of instrumental music. Use the following address: music_night_2013(at)aeaweb.org. No attachments please – just send links to your audio/video files.

A committee of economist musicians who have played at the ASSA meetings will consider the submissions and present proposals for participation to those selected by May 1. The intent is to identify participants by music type and levels of proficiency, and later make connections among the standouts in each individual style so they can form a session as part of the evening’s program.
