COMPUTATIONAL AND FINANCIAL ECONOMETRICS (CFE 2012)

6th CSDA International Conference on
COMPUTATIONAL AND FINANCIAL ECONOMETRICS (CFE 2012)

1-3 December 2012, Conference Centre, Oviedo, Spain
http://www.cfe-csda.org/cfe12

Computational and financial econometrics comprise a broad field that has clearly interested a wide variety of researchers in economics, finance, statistics, mathematics and computing. Examples include financial time series analyses that focus on efficient and robust portfolio allocations over time, asset valuations with emphases on option pricing, volatility measurements, models of market microstructure effects and credit risk. While such studies are often theoretical, they can also have a strong empirical element measuring risk and return and often have a significant computational aspect dealing with issues like high-dimensionality and large numbers of observations. Algorithmic developments are also of interest since existing algorithms often do not utilize the best computational techniques for efficiency, stability, or conditioning. So also are developments of environments for conducting econometrics, which are inherently computer based. Integrated econometrics packages have grown well over the years, but still have much room for development.

ESA-announce Two PhD Positions in the Institutional & Behavioural Economics group at the Centre for Tropical Marine Ecology ZMT Bremen (Lab & Natural Experiments)

Posted on 2011/10/17. Filed under: 經濟, 綜合, 實驗 | 標籤:, , |

Two PhD Positions in the Institutional & Behavioural Economics group at the Centre for Tropical Marine Ecology ZMT Bremen
(Lab & Natural Experiments)

The newly established working group “Institutional & Behavioural Economics” is looking first for an economist (Master degree or equivalent), who is interested in behavioural economics and is ready to do experiments on environmental awareness of users of coastal resources (reefs and beaches) in the Philippines. Monitoring and enforcement of sustainable behaviour is extremely costly in those ecosystems and therefore, awareness raising measures (e.g. information and infrastructure) might often be more cost-effective instruments then using monetary incentives. We want to test with the help of natural experiments the effectiveness of those instruments.

Second, we are looking for an economist, who wants to do laboratory experiments on cooperative behaviour at the Social Science Lab at Jacobs University. The candidate will analyse adaptation to climate change when resource users face a gradual change vs. a shock in the ecological system they are operating in or when uncertainty increases. The Project is a joint venture with the System Ecology group at ZMT, which is using the experimental data for elaborating the yet existing resource model further.

The PhD candidates will get a three years contract (TVL13/2). The position is a research position and need not involve teaching. The preferred starting date is January 2012 or earlier. The PhD in Economics will be done at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Jacobs University Bremen. If you have basic analytical skills in econometrics, experimental design and empirical research methods, if you can fascinate yourself for an interesting research topic in the area of resource economics and you are happy to work in a team, then you should apply as soon as possible and send us a letter of application (stating for which project you apply), a CV and two letters of recommendation. The positions will be filled as soon as suitable candidates are found.

The 2011 workshop will take place at the Mantra Legends Hotel, Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast, Queensland. The number of participants will be limited to 40 to avoid the need for parallel sessions.

The programme will consist of around 14 papers. Each paper will be allocated an hour, made up of a short presentation by the authors, followed by a response from a nominated discussant and a general discussion.

Papers will be circulated in advance and taken as read. Participants will be expected to attend the whole meeting and it is hoped that all participants will play a role as author, discussant or chairperson.

The deadline for submitting papers and registration forms is 12 November 2011.

SELECTION OF PAPERS:

Papers for the 2011 Workshop will be selected on the basis of full papers. Authors will have the opportunity to submit their papers for publication in a “workshop issue" of Health Economics, and it would be helpful if papers are prepared according to the journal’s notes for contributors.

There will be a pre-Workshop training day with short courses led by Bill Greene and Partha Deb.
As places are limited to 40, an early registration is recommended.
