We are inviting submissions for the 2nd issue of the CSDA Annals of
Computational and Financial Econometrics.

The Annals of Computational and Financial Econometrics is published as
a supplement to the journal of Computational Statistics & Data
Analysis to serve as an outlet for distinguished research papers in
computational econometrics and financial econometrics. Authors
submitting a paper to CSDA may request that it be considered for
inclusion in the Annals. The high standards of the Annals will make it
a valuable resource for econometric research. Each issue will be
edited by several Guest Editors and Associated Editors who will be
responsible, together with the CSDA Co-Editors, for the selection of
the papers. The first Issue of the CSDA Annals of Computational and
Financial Econometrics comprises 51 papers (Volume 56(11), 2991-3808,

Submissions for the Annals should contain both a computational and an
econometric or financial-econometric component. The deadline for paper
submissions for the 2nd issue is the 10th November 2012. However

ESA-announce call for papers: 4TH SOUTHERN EUROPE EXPERIMENTALISTS MEETING

The Experimental Community of Southern Europe is pleased to announce the 4th Southern Europe Experimentalists Meeting (SEET 2013), organized by Pablo Brañas (Middlesex University Business School), María Paz Espinosa (Universidad del País Vasco & Bridge), Natalia Jiménez (GLOBE: University of Granada), Jaromír Kovářík (Universidad del País Vasco & Bridge) and Praveen Kujal (Universidad Carlos III).

The meeting will be held in Tenerife North (Canary Islands, Spain) from January 31- February 2, 2013.

The meeting mainly promotes active interaction among researchers in experimental economics, behavioral economics and related areas, and we encourage theoretical contributions. A list of potential topics/sessions includes industrial organization, social preferences, (behavioral)
game theory, risk attitudes, markets, field experiments, labor & gender economics, networks, neuroeconomics, asset markets among others.

ESA-announce Possible Permanent and Temporary Positions at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB)

Dear Colleagues,

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is an independent Bureau within the Federal Reserve System. Created in July 2010 by the “Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act”, the CFPB works to empower consumers with the information they need to make financial decisions that are best for them and their families and sets and enforces clear, consistent rules that allow banks and other consumer financial services providers to compete on a level playing field. The Bureau’s Office of Research is building an interdisciplinary team to support these objectives. The following permanent / temporary research positions are in the planning phase:

· Social/Behavioral Scientist and Senior Social / Behavioral Scientist (permanent)

· Senior Fellow and Junior (post-doctoral) Fellows (terms from a few months to multi-year)

· Summer Graduate Internships (2 to 4 months)

Researchers/students with expertise in any of the following areas will be strongly encouraged to apply for these positions:

Judgment and decision-making, heuristics and biases, risk perception, decision analysis, social influence (e.g., trust, persuasion, and deception), negotiation, and discrimination.

Social/Behavioral Scientists and Fellows will have half time to carry out independent, self-directed research on a variety of questions associated with household financial decision-making and behavior as well as research in other areas relevant to the mission of the Bureau. They will also provide analytic support to various aspects of the agency’s work, including policy development, regulation, supervision and enforcement. The most qualified applicants will have completed their doctorate in psychology, economics, decision science, statistics, marketing or related fields, OR have independently conducted and published innovative research in one or more of these fields.

Interns will be assigned to one or more of the projects underway in the Office of Research. Internship work may range from data collection and analysis of information on consumer financial markets to the design and implementation of surveys and experiments to evaluation of information presentations and design and assessment of decision aids. Interns will also support various aspects of the Bureau’s work concerning financial products and consumer protection, including policy development, regulation, supervision and enforcement. The most qualified applicants will be working toward their doctorate in psychology, economics, decision science, statistics, marketing or related fields, OR have independently conducted and published research in one or more of these fields.

CREATES: Visiting Professorship – fixed term full or part time positions

CREATES, Department of Economics and Business, Aarhus University, invites letters of interest for a number of positions at the senior full professor level within the fields of time series econometrics and/or financial econometrics. The positions are fixed term full or part time positions which can be tailored flexibly. For instance positions could be 1-2 months per year for a number of years, or 5-12 months for one or two years. The actual design of the contract will depend on the preferences of the candidate. The positions are research positions with a limited teaching load at the graduate level. Successful candidates will be affiliated with CREATES as a fellow for a fixed period. During employment periods, the fellow is expected to spend the majority of the time at CREATES and to interact and collaborate with faculty and students. An attractive salary scheme including housing can be offered. For non-Danish researchers favorable tax-schemes exist. Conference travel support will be offered.

ESA-announce Spring School in San Diego

Spring School in Behavioral Economics

March 15 to March 21, 2013, San Diego

The Choice Lab at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) and the Rady School of Management at UC San Diego will host a spring school in behavioral economics. The goal of this spring school is to introduce graduate students to new and exciting research in the field. This is a great opportunity for graduate students to expand their behavioral skills and learn what behavioral economics research is about. Topics include social preferences, (psychological) games, incentives, charitable giving and behavioral interventions.

The Summer School is comprised of a series of 10 half day lectures. The lectures will be delivered by Jim Andreoni, Alexander Cappelen, Martin Dufwenberg, Armin Falk, Uri Gneezy, Theo Offerman, Bertil Tungodden, Lise Vesterlund and Angelino Viceisza. A strong emphasis is given to informal interactions, and students will also be given the opportunity to present their work.

We will cover participants’ costs during the workshop, including housing and most meals. Unfortunately, we do not have funds to cover travel costs. About twenty five participants will be invited.
