We are pleased to announce the creation of Sustainability Research & Policy Network (SRPN). It will provide a worldwide, online community for research in all areas of sustainability and policy, following the model of other subject matter networks within SSRN.

We expect SRPN to become a comprehensive online resource for research in sustainability and policy, providing scholars with access to current work in their field and facilitating research and scholarship.

SRPN is sponsored by GSE Research, a new online publisher whose aim is to provide a valuable bridge between scholarly research and practice in the fields of governance, environment and sustainability. GSE offers a fast and friendly publication process and global dissemination of your work. Authors retain the right to publish later versions elsewhere if desired. SRPN’s founding director is John Peters, CEO of GSE Research (john.peters(at)gseresearch.com) and is edited by Colin Fisher from Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Trent University, and Timothy M. Devinney from University of Technology, Sydney (UTS), Faculty of Business.

Initially, SRPN will begin with the following 25 Subject Matter eJournals, and subscriptions will be free during the start-up phase through September 2012. The Center for Robust Decision Making on Climate and Energy Policy (RDCEP) brings together experts in economics, physical sciences, energy technologies, law, computational mathematics, statistics, and computer science to work on a series of tightly connected research programs. Ultimately this research aims to improve the computational models needed to evaluate climate and energy policies, and to make robust decisions based on outcomes. The Center was established in September of 2010 by the University of Chicago in partnership with several universities and national laboratories and is funded by a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) through the Decision Making Under Uncertainty (DMUU) program. The RDCEP working papers series is published electronically and is available online.

INTERNATIONAL FOOD POLICY RESEARCH INSTITUTE (IFPRI) RESEARCH PAPER SERIES

View Papers: http://www.ssrn.com/link/IFPRI-RES.html
Subscribe: http://hq.ssrn.com/jourInvite.cfm?link=IFPRI-RES

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks sustainable solutions for ending hunger and poverty. The Institute’s main outcome is policy information that leads to changes in food policy that improve the lives of poor people and promote sustainable food production. This vision of ending hunger is based on the human rights to adequate food and freedom from hunger, and the recognition of the dignity inherent in all human beings. It is a vision of a world where every person has secure access to sufficient and safe food to sustain a healthy and productive life and where food-related policy decisions are made transparently, including the participation of consumers and producers. IFPRI is committed to providing global food policy knowledge as an international public good; that is, it provides knowledge relevant to decisionmakers both inside and outside the countries in which it undertakes research. New knowledge on how to improve the food security of low-income people in developing countries is expected to result in large social benefits, but in most instances the private sector is unlikely to carry out research to generate such knowledge. IFPRI views both public organizations and the private sector in food systems as objects of study and as partners.

Departments, centers, and other institutions may host their own Research Paper Series to showcase and distribute faculty research. For more information, email RPS(at)ssrn.com.

Fully Funded Studentship in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship

Posted on 2012/02/02. Filed under: 經濟, 綜合 | 標籤:, , , |

Reimagining Liverpool’s Enterprising Future:
translating local entrepreneurial culture into greater levels of wealth creation and distribution for the city-region

ESRC North West Doctoral Training Centre PhD CASE AwardA collaboration between the University of Liverpool, Lancaster University and Liverpool Vision

An opportunity has arisen for the right candidate to study for a PhD through a joint collaboration between the University of Liverpool, Lancaster University and the economic development company, Liverpool Vision. The fully funded studentship is in the field of enterprise, small business and local economic development and would be suitable for those with a degree classification of 2:1 or above, in a social science discipline such as Business Studies, Economics, Geography, Sociology or similar and possibly a Masters degree or equivalent that demonstrates sufficient research knowledge to begin PhD study.

This PhD CASE Award is supported through the ESRC North West Doctoral Training Centre and is available on a 1+3 basis (MRes and PhD) or +3 basis (PhD) through the Business and Management pathway.

The research project will explore levels of enterprise and entrepreneurship in the Liverpool city-region. Although Liverpool has undergone economic regeneration in recent years and has attracted prestige initiatives such as the European Capital of Culture, which in turn has led to renewed levels of business confidence, the city-region continues to exhibit low levels of entrepreneurship and new business start up alongside high levels of deprivation. The research seeks to explore why Liverpool’s enterprise and entrepreneurial behaviour exists in the way it does and why it fails to translate into greater levels of wealth creation and distribution across the city-region. The critical approach adopted will help reimagine Liverpool’s future for enterprise.
