2014 LabSi Workshop on Behavioral and Experimental Finance

Behavioral finance studies financial markets focusing on the behavioral and psychological factors that affect individual decision-making. Experimental economics has been widely used to test theories and models that predict actual behavior in financial markets. In recent years the interplay between these research fields has enhanced the understanding of financial markets and it has been very helpful for institutional design.
The objective of the workshop is to provide an opportunity to researchers in both fields to share their latest researches. We invite submissions of papers discussing behavioral finance both experimentally and theoretically, as well as papers analyzing asset pricing, market microstructure, and corporate finance issues from an experimental or theoretical perspective. Experimental methods should be understood in a broad sense, inclusive both of laboratory and field experiments. Theoretical papers should be referred to decision-making in financial markets.
The deadline for submitting an abstract is May 31th, 2014.
Abstracts should be submitted by e-mail to labsiconference@gmail.com
Acceptance decisions will be communicated to authors by June 10th, 2014.

The Department of Economics at the University of Birmingham seeks to fill two lectureship positions. The posts are open to any field in economics, but we would particularly welcome applications from excellent recent doctoral graduates or early career researchers of outstanding quality in the field of experimental economics.
Ranked amongst the world’s top 100, the University of Birmingham is an elite institution that offers an inspirational research and learning environment. The Economics Department is part of the Birmingham Business School. This is one of four Schools that comprise the College of Social Sciences, one of the University’s five Colleges.
The University of Birmingham has recently established its own laboratory specifically designed for the conduct of economics experiments (the Birmingham Experimental Economics Laboratory (BEEL)). Members of the Department of Economics have a wide range of research interests in areas such as applied economics, economic theory, behavioural/experimental economics economics, econometrics, environmental economics, finance, macroeconomics, and trade. The departmental atmosphere is very collegial and Birmingham is a great place to live.

To mark the establishment of the new Centre for Financial Econometrics at Essex University there will be a two-day conference on Thursday 12th June and Friday 13th June 2014 with the theme “Recent Developments in Financial Econometrics and Empirical Finance”. At the heart of the conference will be the 2014 Annual John Nankervis Memorial Lecture given by Professor P.C.B. Phillips. Other invited speakers include Richard Baillie, Giuseppe Cavaliere, Bent Jesper Christensen, Andrew Harvey, Morten Nielsen and Tassos Magdalinos.

The lecture is aimed to provide an overview about the recent empirical findings on issues of labor and finance. The first part will focus on how the conflict of interest between labor unions and shareholders influence corporate strategies and corporate finance policies. 6.接受之論文，至少一位作者必須註冊並出席本次研討會發表。

4th ACCER Workshop on Cross-Cultural Experimental Economics Research
May 23 -24, 2014
We are happy to announce the 4th ACCER Workshop on Cross-Cultural Experimental Economics Research. This workshop brings together advanced scholars and young researchers active and interested in cross-cultural and inter-cultural experimental economics research to present and discuss their research.
Keynote speakers:
- Swee-Hoon Chuah, Nottingham University Business School, UK (http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/business/lizsc1.html)
- Gianluca Grimalda, Laboratory of Experimental Economics Experimental (LEE), University Jaume I of Castellón, Spain (http://lee.uji.es/full-time-researchers-members/gianluca).
Besides presenting their own work, the keynote speakers will focus on methods, challenges and their own experiences in cross-cultural and inter-cultural experimental research.
The Workshop is a joint event of ACCER (www.accer.org) and the IN-EAST School of Advanced Studies of the University of Duisburg-Essen (www.uni-due.de/in-east/215/).
We plan for a small workshop with up to 20 participants to foster discussion, interaction and networking. We will offer slots for contributed papers and for work in progress in poster sessions. The Workshop will start at 4 p.m. on May 23 and end around 5 p.m. on May 24.
Thanks to the generous support of IN-EAST School of Advanced Studies of the University of Duisburg-Essen (sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research), we provide accommodation for one night and partly reimburse your travel costs.
If you want to participate in the workshop please submit
- a paper to be included in the contributed paper sessions
or
- an extended abstract for presentation in a poster session including objectives, methods, (expected) results, and conclusions (up to 500 words).
